Photos: Claretians mark 75 years of missionary service in the Philippines

The Claretians, formally the Congregation of Missionaries, Sons of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated its 75 years of presence in the Philippines on November 20, 2021.

A commemorative marker built by the Kapatirang Claretian Inc., an association of former Claretian priests, brothers, and seminarians, was unveiled during the celebration.

The congregation, founded in 1849 by Saint Anthony Mary Claret, also announced the change of the name of the Philippine Province to Father Rhoel Gallardo Province “to promote inclusivity” and to honor Father Gallardo who offered his life in the southern island of Basilan in 2000 and whose cause of martyrdom has already been initiated.

LiCAS.news photojournalist Jire Carreon was there to witness the celebration.
